Green Party’s newest branch launches in Oxfordshire!

The Green Party has launched a new branch for members in the districts of South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse.

Robin Bennett, co-Leader of South Oxfordshire District Council, and a Green OCC Councillor, says: “In 2019 the first ever Green councillors won seats on South Oxfordshire and Vale of the White Horse District Councils. This new branch will give local Green members a way to get more involved. It will also help us to win more council seats and have even more impact in the future.”

Greens are in joint control of South Oxfordshire district council in alliance with Liberal Democrats. At County level, the Green group forms part of the Oxfordshire Fair Deal Alliance. The creation of the alliance between Greens, Labour and Liberal Democrats overturned decades of Conservative control in May 2021.

Kat Foxhall, chair of the new branch explains: “We’ve been building momentum locally over the last few years. Residents have shown they are ready for a progressive, honest politics that will fight for Oxfordshire’s communities and environment in a time of real crisis. This new branch will help us to showcase the brilliant work that our local councillors are doing across the two districts, organise locally, and inspire new members.”

All Green Party members living in the Vale and South Oxfordshire Districts will automatically become members of the new branch. If you’d like to become a member, please join the Green Party.
