Gavin McLauchlan

Meet Gavin McLauchlan

“My priority is securing the services and infrastructure we need to help our growing communities thrive,” said Gavin. “I will listen and make sure the needs of our rural villages are heard at the County Council. We are facing the biggest shake-up in local government since 1974. I will be a strong, independent Green voice for our local villages, to make sure they are not left behind.”

Gavin has lived in Benson for the past 15 years and in Dorchester before that. A father of grown-up children, Gavin is married to a local primary school teacher and understands the importance of early years education and the special educational needs of many in our community.  He is already an effective and hard-working councillor on Benson Parish Council and now seeks to represent the new Benson & Crowmarsh Division at Oxfordshire County Council.   With a professional background in communication and digital media, Gavin understands the importance of representing his local community and understanding their concerns.

As a member of the parish Recreation and Lands Committee, Gavin set up the Benson Allotments Association and has initiated regular surgeries where local residents can come to talk to their Councillors about their issues.  He is passionate about community engagement and has organised events to encouraging volunteering in Benson and beyond.
