County Councillors

South and Vale Green Party have grown from a single County Councillor in 2019, who went on to run the Climate Change brief at county, to now having an energetic and hardworking team of four councillors.

  • Emma Markham, Shrivenham

    Emma Markham, Shrivenham

    Emma Markham lives in Watchfield and works in securing future food supplies and helping farmers grow stronger, safer crops. She is Chair of Watchfield Parish Council and has lots of experience listening to residents’ concerns, working with local councils to improve services and managing projects. Emma grew up on a smallholding in a rural farming community, and she will be a strong, experienced and independently-minded Green voice for our area.

    Meet Gavin McLauchlan

    “My priority is securing the services and infrastructure we need to help our growing communities thrive,” said Gavin. “I will listen and make sure the needs of our rural villages are heard at the County Council. We are facing the biggest shake-up in local government since 1974. I will be a strong, independent Green voice for our local villages, to make sure they are not left behind.”

    Gavin has lived in Benson for the past 15 years and in Dorchester before that. A father of grown-up children, Gavin is married to a local primary school teacher and understands the importance of early years education and the special educational needs of many in our community.  He is already an effective and hard-working councillor on Benson Parish Council and now seeks to represent the new Benson & Crowmarsh Division at Oxfordshire County Council.   With a professional background in communication and digital media, Gavin understands the importance of representing his local community and understanding their concerns.

    As a member of the parish Recreation and Lands Committee, Gavin set up the Benson Allotments Association and has initiated regular surgeries where local residents can come to talk to their Councillors about their issues.  He is passionate about community engagement and has organised events to encouraging volunteering in Benson and beyond.

    James Barlow, Wallingford

    James has lived  in Wallingford for over 20 years and works in sustainability. He is a district councillor who speaks up for better infrastructure for our fast-growing area and introduced “Meet Your Councillor” sessions so residents can have their say. He is a founding member of Sustainable Wallingford and a former governor at St John’s Primary School.


  • Robin Jones, Berinsfield

    Robin Jones, Berinsfield

    As a local resident, volunteer and parish councillor, Robin Jones has been working hard for our area for many years. Robin works for a charity for adults with learning disabilities and volunteers for the River Thame Conservation Trust. He will be a strong Green voice speaking up for the villages, countryside and residents of the Berinsfield and Garsington division.
