Sutton Courtenay And Marcham By-Election

Aidan Reilly

Sutton Courtenay Ward - Vale of White Horse

Sutton Courtenay and Marcham Division - Oxfordshire County Council

Attending Sutton Courtenay Funday 2024

I am standing in the upcoming local by-elections to represent Sutton Courtenay and Marcham. I am organised and will get things done as a local councillor.

As an engineer, I have the right skills to do the job

I work as an engineer at the Culham Science Centre and am the President of a group with 170 members set up to encourage active travel to the Science Centre. As an engineer I am guided by facts and science when making difficult decisions. I am hard working, capable and know how to make good decisions with complex information.

I live locally and am passionate about making a difference.

I am an active member of the local community – in addition to regular litter picking, I volunteer at the One Planet Living Centre in Abingdon, and I’ve campaigned for better cycling provision in our area. Our villages have taken a huge amount of new housing, but we need more services and facilities to support residents. Our local area is under pressure from housing and massive infrastructure projects and I am determined speak up on the issues that matter to local residents, and to help our area thrive.

As a Green I am free to speak up for residents and the environment.

I moved here five years ago, having worked as an engineer for charities in Ethiopia and Sudan, This is now my home. I am passionate about making our community the best possible place to live and work. I am deeply concerned about the impact of the proposed huge reservoir and its potential to make local flooding even worse. As a keen river swimmer, I am disgusted by Thames Water’s dumping of raw sewage into our precious rivers, including Ginge Brook – a rare chalk stream which needs protecting.

Greens are never told how to vote or what to say, so I will make local needs my priority.

Please put your trust in me on 20th June. I won’t let you down. Thank you!

2024 General Election

Sam Casey-Rerhaye

Didcot and Wantage - Parliamentary Constituency

Sam Cassie-Rerhaye overlooking a wheat field

I was elected to South Oxfordshire District Council in 2019 and again in 2023, am a keen cyclist and have lived in Oxfordshire with my family for 18 years. I care deeply for the people of this wonderful place I call home.

I am dedicated to public service in both my career and in my heart; I have worked with school leavers supporting them in apprenticeships; supporting people with learning disabilities; Sure Start children's centers, and drug and alcohol action services for young people.

In my many roles I have pushed hard for active travel improvements and spoken out about failure to police dangerous speeding on Oxfordshire's roads. I also initiated a motion to South Oxfordshire District Council declaring an ecological emergency in 2021, and as a Public Health professional, have consistently made the case on the fundamental connections between health, climate and nature.

I am very proud to represent Didcot and Wantage in these forthcoming elections and look forward to serving the communities of this beautiful part of the world in whatever capacity I am able to.

Jo Robb

Henley and Thame - Parliamentary Constituency

Jo Robb

I live in the village of Rotherfield Greys with my husband and two sons, and I love this place and its wonderful communities. I trained as a lawyer and have worked as a financial journalist and editor, and in 2019, I was elected to South Oxfordshire District Council to represent the Woodcote and Rotherfield Ward. For the past five years, I have been a hard-working and dedicated councillor, standing up for residents, and our beautiful local area.

As a river swimmer, member of the Henley Mermaids swim team and the district’s River Thames Champion, I have led the fight against sewage pollution from the start. In 2020, I worked with the district council, Thames21 and Wallingford Town Council to kick-start the process of applying for Bathing Water Status for Wallingford. I successfully worked to get Thames Water to release real-time sewage alerts ahead of schedule. I am passionate about conserving the Chilterns and have led the council’s efforts to protect dark skies.

I have pushed for action on dangerous speeding on our local roads and made sure that all council staff, including those who work for outsourcing contractors, are paid at least the Real Living Wage.

I was elected Chair of the Council in 2021, I am a trustee of the Henley Municipal Charities and am back at university – studying counselling part-time at the University of Oxford.

It is a privilege to serve my local community and to stand up for what matters.

Chris Goodall, Author and Academic

Oxford West and Abingdon - Parliamentary Constituency

Chris Goodall - Author, Businessmen and Climate Expert

I am a writer and researcher on the energy transition, with six books under my belt which have won awards and commendations. I am also a businessperson and investor in young climate technology companies and work towards improving the supply of fresh food to local food banks and larders. I live and work in Oxford West and Abingdon and love being a part of this amazing community.

The Conservatives have broken our public services, are continuing to ruin nature and wrecking the climate.  Labour don’t have the ambition or commitment to make a real difference, and are letting marginal views limit what they will do for community and environment. Only Greens can be trusted to fight for people and the planet, and I will be a strong voice in parliament to challenge the next government to reach further faster.
